DeleteBOSTON MARATHON BOMBING
ReplyDeleteDozens of people have been seriously injured after two reported explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The Boston Globe cited witnesses who reported
hearing two large explosions shortly before 3 p.m. ET. The Associated Press reported at least one of the explosions came near the entrance of the Fairmont Copley Hotel.
The two bombs that killed three people and injured at least 176 at the Boston Marathon were made from six-liter pressure cookers crammed with shards of metal, nails and ball bearings and stashed in black backpacks, police sources revealed.
The cruelly-designed bombs have 'frequently' been used in India, Nepal and Pakistan, according to a 2010 Homeland Security Department pamphlet - hinting at the origins of the bombers behind the worst terrorist atrocity in the U.S. since 9/11.

MAN OF STEEL
ReplyDelete"Man of Steel" was the most watched film in theaters in the week in Paraguay.
As was to be expected in the case of one of the most anticipated films of the year, "Man of Steel", a return to the iconic Superman film, easily took first place in the premieres of Paraguayans theaters.
The film, directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher Nolan, retells the origin of Superman, one of the last survivors of the planet Krypton, sent to Earth and raised by farmers in Kansas, United States, while developing incredible powers and incredible abilities.
In the first week of release in theaters in Paraguay, the film had a sale of more than 11,000 tickets sold. That number puts it in the top of the week, although it remains below other big releases of the year as "Iron Man 3" (more than 33,000 tickets in its first week) and "Fast and Furious 6" (over 25,000 tickets in its first week).
"Man of Steel" is the number 11 most watched film in theaters in Paraguay, immediately behind the Disney fantasy film "Mighty Oz".
In second place was the action film "Fast & Furious 6", with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson in a new adventure full of thrills and adrenaline.
The third place went to the adult comedy "The Hangover? Part 3 ". The movie scored 25,100 tickets sold.

Brazilians march despite fare reversal
ReplyDeleteA massive crowd of demonstrators swelled around an iconic church in the heart of Rio de Janeiro on Thursday, shouting "down with corruption" and "I can live without the World Cup." Police initially reported tens of thousands of protesters in Rio de Janeiro but later said the crowds had grown to more than 300,000 people.
Large demonstrations in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Brasilia came a day after a movement that started as a protest against a 9-cent increase in bus fares scored a major victory. The movement has galvanized people across the country who say they're fed up with high taxes and a lack of services -- such as health and education -- while the government spends billions on preparations for the 2014 World Cup.
The government has stressed that the force's mission is to mediate and not repress. Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff told peaceful protesters Tuesday that their message was being heard. In light of the protests, the Brazilian president has postponed a trip to Japan, the state-run Agencia Brasil news agency reported Thursday.
Great Andrea!
DeleteI could understood your news perfectly.
I would change some vocabulary, though, such as demonstrators and march.
Well done!!
Take care!
HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE DIED BURNED
ReplyDeleteI'm going to talk about the fire of The Ykua Bolaños which happened in august 1st 2004 and it's te biggest tragedy of Paraguay. A lot of People died that day, it was so thrilling.
It is said that inside the supermarket were like 800 people, it was almost midday, two explosions had happened inside the restaurant so after that the guard closed the door because the owner didn't want people to come out with things they didn't pay.
the ouwner Juan Pio Paiva were punished for only 5 years, everybody was angry because it was so short for such a big crime, even the president Nicanor Duarte Frutos said that.
In that day 396 people died and 500 were injured, for me it was traumatic because I was just a littler girl so watching the news was awful and sad too.
Impossible to forget it!
DeleteExcellent report Giovanna! Nice headline!
You used "distancing the facts."

ReplyDeleteBrazilians goes to the streets to protest
Many Brazilians citizens, approximately a million of angry persons have gone out each night for a week now. They are mad with the government because of the high budget that has the preparation of the World Cup of the next year, and also against the corruption and the bad public services.
For more than five nights, according to the Federal Police a million of citizens have been protesting because of many things that they think must change. Actually this has begun because of the increase in 0,40 R$ (reals) in the public transportation of the city if Sao Paulo, the financial capital of Brazil, in that city all started. Now in more than fifteen capitals and hundred cities are having protest every night since the last week. Awfully until today there were two deaths already in those protests.
The mad Brazilians got one of their demands; the increase of 40 cents got rejected. However they continue with the others demands that today were answered by the president Dilma Rousseff that this night said: “My government is listening to the democratic voices that are asking change”. The protests continue even though the response.
Great report Jose!
DeleteNice headline. Correct the mistake, though.
